Liverpool run business, Escorial
Racing (www.escorialracing.co.uk), has
launched its online 2004/2005 Fantasy
Horse Racing competition.
Developed by Connect Internet
Solutions, the online game invites
players to create and manage their own
stable of race horses with the
objective of scoring as many points as
possible and winning one of the many
prizes on offer. Each stable purchased
holds fifteen horses, which are
entered for real races that take place
in real time.
Players pay a minimal fee to register
and have the option of donating a
percentage of this to charity and
joining a charity league as well as
the regular competition.
With a virtual budget of £50 million
players then populate their stable
from a list of the Top 500 UK horses.
When a horse is scheduled to run in
real life the player has to place it
on the virtual ‘track’ prior to the
start of the race - points are awarded
to the owner if the horse wins or is
placed. Horses can also be traded,
adding a fun element to the game and
enabling players to make the necessary
changes to improve the performance of
their stable – helping them score more
points.
The competition started in November
2004, enticing players from all over
the world. Played twice yearly it
covers both the Flat and National Hunt
seasons. Prizes on offer include,
for the overall winner, a trip for two
to the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe
2005, plus £500 spending money.
Connect Internet Solutions developed
all aspects of the online gaming
solution - providing the ability for
players to register, trade horses and
manage their racing. Integrated with
Pay Pal, the payment system ensures
that security levels are second to
none.
Ron Robinson, Manager of Escorial
Racing, commented: ‘Connect’s
technical expertise has enabled us to
benefit from an excellent solution
that meets our every requirement. The
competition has been a great success
and we hope to run it on an annual
basis.’
